Josefov — Jewish Quarter

The Old Jewish Cemetery holds an estimated 12,000 visible tombstones stacked in layers going back to 1439 — a direct, sobering counterpoint to the square nearby.

The Pinkas Synagogue's walls are hand-inscribed with the names of nearly 80,000 Czech Jewish Holocaust victims. Give this quarter unhurried, quiet time rather than treating it as a photo stop.
